Announcing EnhancedEntryEditing 1.2

EnhancedEntryEditing 1.2 not only fixes several incredibly annoying bugs but it also introduces a few new features. Here's a brief overview:

  • Fixed the bug where the WYSIWYG editor would distort the new/edit entry screen
  • The formatting buttons (and textarea resizer controls) are automatically hidden if the WYSIWYG is enabled for the textarea.
  • A new toggle button allows you to toggle the editor on and off. As a result, you no longer need to set the text formatter to WYSIWYG to use the editor, however the text formatter is higly recommended to prevent any conflicts.

If you are upgrading from a older version of EnhancedEntryEditing, follow these steps to ensure a smooth upgrade:

  1. Go to System Overview > Plugins > EnhancedEntryEditing > Show Settings and click the Reset to Defaults
  2. For each blog that uses the plugin, go to Blog Settings > Plugins > EnhancedEntryEditing > Show Settings and click the Reset to Defaults

This ensures you get the latest settings. EnhancedEntryEditing remains a free plugin for personal users. Commercial and Enterprise users are asked to purchase an appropriate license after a 30-day evaluation period. Go grab the latest version!

Arvind:

A couple of questions:

  1. Do you have the "Now" button, like Dan Wolfgang included in his alternate edit_entry template? It's right beneath the date-time text box on the template; clicking it replaces the date and time with the current date-time.
  2. Is the live preview I'm seeing to my right one of your plugins? Which one? It's really nice!

Thanks,

Dafydd

Hi Dafydd,

  1. Nope, unfortunately not. However, the UpdateAuthoredOn plugin should do what you want.

  2. No the LivePreview is not a plugin but rather a modification of the script Jesse documented here

Arvind:

  1. Hm... it appears the UpdateAuthoredOn plugin requires BigPAPI, and it hasn't been updated since 22 August 2005... which means before MT 3.3, I think.

So I don't know if it will work now!
  2. The script looks interesting, but I'm going to have to read it over a few times before I know exactly what I must do.

I still see a use in Comment Preview: to see how the comment is going to look in the actual blog, under the styles and such in the stylesheet (my preview page is set up to look just like the actual individual-entry page).

If I insert the same code onto the Comment Preview page, will that cause the live preview to appear on the original page... and if you click Preview, then on the comments preview page as well?

That way, for 9/10ths of the comments, the commenter can just use the live preview and then post it. But if someone writes his comment, then wants to see how it looks in the blog style before saving it, he can do so while still taking advantage of live previewing.

So does it work that way? Or is it more complicated than that?

Thanks,

Dafydd

I'm having difficulty with turning on "Show Toggle Buttons." Even after it says the settings have been saved, it goes back to its default which is unchecked. I can't get to the html version of the "new entry" window. What should be the correct combination of settings between "new entry defaults" and the "enhanced entry plugin" settings? Thanks

Has anyone else had problems with IE7 and this plugin? I have version 3.36 of MT, and on the new entry input page the entry fields are rendering below the left nav, and I can't edit the Body field.

Explorer returns the following error.

" Line: 2 Character: 107013 Error: Object Required "

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I installed the EEE plug-in on a site I maintain, and found it to be more trouble than it was worth. No reflection on Movalog, more so on TinyMice (or whatever the name is). First, it stripped form code right out of posts. That is, if I wanted to include a form in a post, forget it. It also had a nasty habit of stripping out certain tags you might use in a post and inserting tags of it's own liking. One of my users complained that headings were not correct - it seems to have applied its own rules and overridden the style rules. Finally, it also seems to be fond of changing the status of posts from "published" to "unpublished." My users re-worked some posts and found they disappeared off the site, as they had been changed to an unpublished state. Now, it's possible all of these issues could be addressed through the configuration panel in some way, but I don't have the time or energy to try and resolve them all. IMHO this plug-in isn't ready for prime time because TinyMice is not ready for prime time.
