Forums?
Currently many people refer to an MT community but I feel there isn't a proper place where this community can get together. Yes there are the forums and ProNet but the first isn't for real socializing (for lack of a better word) and the latter is geared up for devs or pros. I want a place where people will be comfortable expressing their newbiness, talking about Movable type, tips tricks, tutorial request etc. A preview is available here
Also I've been thinking about adding a type of directory service for people to list their Movable type sites for added publicity. This would be a place where people could list their blogs yet find new ones to read (this is a great way to fine new blogs to read and get readers for your blog!). Again there are webrings that do this sort of thing but I detest them because more often that not they take more people out of your blog than into...
So what do you think? Would you like a place where you could get to gether with other MT users and discuss anything under the sky - somewhere just to put your feet up, and/or would you like a directory through which your blog could be listed and you could find other blogs and build friendships (I have I can tell you) If I see that people do want these things I will launch them formally (currently they're up but not fully functional, I've been told that the two scripts I will be using do hook into one another but I'm not sure what this exactly means and to what extent). So what do you think? Leave your thoughts, comments, suggestions either in the comments or use the Contact form found here

People wanting to get together IRL could always check out the MT Meetup group as another way of organizing get-togethers. Depending on where they are there might be a lot of fellow MT Meetup'ers, or they might be the only one. There seem to be very few in my area, but the bigger cities seem to have more people signed up. And if more people know about Meetup'ing, more might sign up!

For what it's worth, I'd quite like a forum where people could swap quick'n'easy tips and tricks - and gossip about the weather, fellow bloggers etc.!

There are, or at least were two web rings listing Movable Type weblogs. Though using the same weblog software is no more socially binding than using MS Word.
I don't see an forum in addtional to the plentiful ones available on the MT site itself serving much technical benefit. Nor any harm. I've yet to see such fora for weblog software independent of the home sites develop but maybe you'll be the one to put it off. You've done a remarkably fine job establshing was has quickly become one of the few must read weblogs about MT.
How's that for an ambiguous response?

I think this is a great idea.
With the new licensing and continued adoptation of TypePad the official MT support forums seem less and useful every day. This is as it should be, but it leaves those of us who are more than casual users but not quite developers without a suitable forum.
I think it's worth a shot. Most third-party software support forums fail as quickly as a new restaurant, but the ones that survive serve up some damn good chow.
