MT Protect 1.0

Although the campaign hasn't been completed, I was excited about this release due to its featureset and didn't want to busy myself with its release during the peak of my exams.

So here it is, Download MT-Protect_1.0.zip and follow the installation instructions . If you are upgrading from the beta, you will need to run the upgrade script that will create a new table.

This new release includes several new features:

  • Typekey groups, this is where you create groups of Typekey users from example Friends etc. To assist you in creation of these groups, a new list_commenters.tmpl has been included in the distribution so you can select Typekey commenters to add to a new group.

  • Protection of entire blogs -- if you felt uncomfortable with protection access to blogs via the .htaccess, use this and its appropriate tag to protect a blog. The beauty is that you can protect an entire blog and then protect entries within it too.

  • Listing of protected entries, this screen will assist you in identifying those entries that have been protected

  • Removal of protection, I overlooked the fact that you may want to remove protection of a post, hence 1.0 allows you to remove protection from an entry.

  • Many bug fixes!

Due to my exams, I will not be able to provide much support, so for the time being I will focus my attention on bugs, hence the best way to report a problem is to file a ticket. If you find this plugin useful, please consider donating to the campaign.

Planned improvements:

  • when an incorrect password is entered, it shows up in MT's activity log
  • the ability to create Typekey groups automatically using FOAF from Typekey profiles.
