I'm quite pleased to announce MT Tabs. MT Tabs is a sidebar with quick links to nearly every MT tag. Clicking on these links will take you to the corresponding section in the MT manual to show you how to use the tag and extra syntax.

A few days ago when I was tinkering around with the design, I heavily used CSS and HTML reference sidebars found here. Then Aine - a friend from IRC - said how nice it would be if there was something similar for Movable Type, well now there is !

MT Tabs is compatible with Internet Explorer 5+ for the PC, The Mozilla/Netscape family - including Firefox ! Suggestions, advice and improvements would be greatly appreciated ! I've only managed to get it to work on Internet Explorer 5+ and Mozilla/Netscape, I'm not sure how to get other browsers to support it so any help would be great !

UPDATE: I've updated the bookmarks with updated links, many were broken last time sorry ! You may have to re-create the bookmark you have, ie delete and re-create it from the MT Tabs page. If you're still getting the old version, load it manually in the browser window by clicking here and press control + f5 to re-load it with clear cache. Almost every page has been fixed so I'd suggest you refresh every page, sorry for the inconvenience! Also new support for Opera/Safari and other browsers that wouldn't support sidebars/panels ! As always suggestions, improvements etc. would be greatly appreciated !

This is a great little tool...where do you find this stuff?!? Or did you write it yourself?

Hi Kasey, the anchors in the MT docs were already there, all I did was collate them manually !

Well, it's a nice tool, even if you think it didn't take much work. Thank you for putting it together!

So let me see if I understand what you did. You took the anchor links from the MT documentation and placed them in a web page that we can load into our sidebar, right? What a simple but cool idea!

That's exactly what I did Kasey, glad you like it. I hope you've installed the new version I've put up !

Great googly moogly - that's very useful.

I'm just looking at a redesign of our site and this will be a nice hammer to have handy during the building process.

Any chance of porting this to a Maxthon sidebar?

Win XP Pro, Firefox 0.9.

Clicking on an MT tab in the sidebar opens that MT Tab in a new browser tab, not in the sidebar.

If that's fixed, this'll be great! XD

Hi Lanny, are you using any extensions with Firefox - especially Tabbrowser Extensions. I am using Firefox 0.9.3 and MT Tabs works fine, doesn't open a new browser tab but opens the sidebar !

Oops, nevermind --- a quick update of Tabbrowser Extensions fixed the problem!

So, um...

This is great! XD

Arvind - I am using firefox with the tab extensions you recommended - and clicking on a MT-tab opens the correct place in the docs - but it overlaps the side frame as well, so i have to reopen the Tabs for every tag i want to look up.

Thanks

Andrew not sure what problems you are having but they are related to the extensions you have installed. I have tried out MT Tabs on my installation and on a brad new clean FF installation with no extensions and it works as its meant to. I can't do anything about the fact that extensions mess up MT Tabs sorry !
