Streamlined Entry Protection

People have many annoyances with MT Protect's current interface to protect entries in Movable Type. These include the need to first save an entry before you can protect it, how hard it is at first to find out how to protect an entry , how tedious it can be to add many Typekey or OpenID users and the fact that with many Protection Groups, it can be hard to remember their exact names or remember which group it is you want.

Taking these into consideration I revamped MT Protect's interface.

This new interface has several strengths:

  • It appears right there on the new/edit entry screen. This makes it extremely easy to find and use and prevents you forgetting to protect an entry!

  • Typekey, LiveJournal and OpenID users can easily be added. Simply type out their names (separated with commas) and hit Add. Vox users will feel right at home as this is almost identical to the Vox tags field.

  • Protection Groups are listed at the side and act as toggles. Click and all members are instantly added, click and all members are removed. This method has one further advantage. Supposing you want to add the majority of the group but not everyone. Simple, just click to add the group and then remove the members you don't want.

You can watch a screencast of this new interface here, (it clocks in at about 1.6MB - I haven't been able to find many good screencasting programs for OS X)

I cannot wait for the release.

Have you looked at iShowU for screencasting on OS X?
